- Fernando
and Vilma. We have met Fernando when we were in faculty. Fernando
was studying for his BSc. in Language and Knowledge Engineering.
Fernando is a higly motivated and comitted individual. With his inspiring
good humor, we make a great team!
- Naoko
Matsumoto. A great friend I have met when I went to
ISWC'03. Naoko is taking a PhD in the Cognitive Sciences
in the Value
Decision Laboratory at Tokyo
Institute of Technology.
With Naoko I typed my first Japanese characters on a keyboard
and became a fan of Primopuel.
I often find myself trying to atain hard and impossible
goals. She was the first person to make fell that my dreams
where 'big' not enough. Its impossible not to be impressed by her energy.
- Rui Carapinha.
It never crossed my
mind that someone with a background in mathematics applied to
Computer Science could actually paint in such a talented way such as Rui.
In a word: Impressive. Needless to say, Rui's work
is an inspiration to me. Through many lunch-time conversations with Rui
I have learned many interesting facts about art, aesthetics, design and
even their conections to technology.
- Andrzej Wichert. Few
people are blessed to work a couple of doors away from
outstanding individuals. Now I'm one of them. I can testify for his
friendship. But don't take my word for it, check his
curriculum and his paintings.

A glimpse of Paulo's day-to-day life :)
Paulo usually spend most of his time working on his Ph.D. research
work at the IST (Engineering
School of the Technical University Of Lisbon) in Tagus
Park. His advisor is Prof.
Helena Galhardas and his co-advisor is Prof.
Mário Silva.
To keep fit (and mentally sane) he enjoys working out at the Gym (Solplay) nearby his house. After overcoming many fears, he decided to have fun as Step Aerobics
practicioner. He thinks that Step is an effective way of improving both its coordination and aerobic
fitness. The lerning curve was "step". It took months of practice before he was able to capable
of learning a choreography in 40mins like this one without getting it wrong. Easy, right?! Can you do it?
